Recently, possible threats were detected in some of our multi-function peripherals. If not addressed, these vulnerabilities could potentially lead to unwanted data leakage. The affected models are ES9466MFP and ES9476MFP, which were discontinued in 2019.
To counteract these vulnerabilities, OKI has taken immediate steps:
- Updated firmware has been launched for these devices. You are advised to get your device updated with the help of an OKI Authorised Service Partner.
- To further improve security, when connecting the devices to the internet, make sure to use a network secured by a firewall. Enable user authentication function and manage passwords appropriately.
The vulnerabilities discovered varied in nature, including issues ranging from improper restriction of recursive entity references (CWE-776) to authentication bypass using an alternate path or channel (CWE-288). However, corresponding solutions have been implemented to fix these vulnerabilities.
The identified issues were addressed and fixed on June 14, 2024. Therefore, it’s recommended that all users update their devices to the latest firmware Ver.0373SY0W1047B, which contains the necessary patches for all these vulnerabilities.
